Thrice-crowned NBA Most Valuable Player Jokic endured a "gut-wrenching" injury to his knee as the Nuggets fell by a score of 147-123 at the Heat.

The Serbian center injured himself towards the end of the second quarter following an unintentional collision with teammate Spencer Jones.

The other player landed on the footwear of the big man, who immediately collapsed to the ground clutching his leg.

The star, that leads the league season in boards and assists, posted 21 points and eight dimes in the matchup before incurring the injury.

Jokic will undergo an MRI on the following day to assess the seriousness of the problem.

"Instantly, Jokic understood something was wrong," commented Nuggets head coach Adelman.

"This happens in professional sports. Whoever that is injured, that's tough to see, particularly somebody as important as he is. More information will come tomorrow."

"We'll move on together. Clearly, currently, I am more concerned just about Jokic as a person and the frustration of going through an event of that nature."
