The Latest Relaxed Playlist Sparks Intense Debates Regarding Bots, XP Rewards, and Wait Times
Recently, Battlefield Studios introduced a fresh playlist titled Relaxed Breakthrough. In essence, this mode mirrors the regular Breakthrough format but features several key changes:
- Every squad includes just 8 human participants, with the remaining made up of 32 bots.
- Actions performed by real players grant complete experience points, while bot actions offer lower rewards.
- Just a pair of maps are available: Siege of Cairo and Empire State map.
- Features like Player tags, achievements, and career stat updates are disabled.
In short, this mode lives up to its name: it offers a casual version of Breakthrough. At face value, one could assume there's nothing wrong, as it gives additional choices for gamers looking for alternative methods to have fun with the title. But, gaming history has shown one thing, it is that you can't please everyone. Which is to say, a lot of Battlefield 6 players are mad.
Player Reactions: From Fury to Support
"People want human opponents. Don't repeat the mistakes of your competitors," reads one reply to the mode reveal. "Truly disappointing concept," says a different user. At the same time, in community forums, one user remarks, "It's unclear where we are headed with this game," and someone else lists everything they consider to be broken in Battlefield 6: "Resolve glitches, address drone issues, fix IVF rockets, adjust aiming after sprinting, improve hit detection. We do not require this AI-heavy playlist."
On the other hand, amid the criticism, some gamers explaining how much they're enjoying the recent addition. "It's enjoyable to practice, human participants keep it from being a total farmfest but it's quite laid-back," reads a forum post. "This subreddit doesn't understand that there are gamers who have lives and can't play this title 24/7. Allow them to strike a balance," states a different comment. One reply via social media clarifies that as they're "a battledad with limited time, this is great for me," while another praises the mode for "not being overcompetitive."
Valid Criticisms and Community Feedback
Despite the support, players have valid points to criticize the new mode. A few folks have highlighted that it will make wait times more extended for other modes due to the large amount of options in the game already. On a similar note, certain regions often face mostly bots in the existing playlists. Additionally, it appears somewhat counterintuitive that the mode won't start without a minimum number of human gamers, even though it focuses mostly on combat against bots.
Finally, one of the biggest complaints is that Battlefield Portal was promised to provide full XP, including AI matches, but that got canned when they tried to eliminate XP farming from the system. So Casual Breakthrough seems like the player base compromising halfway, as per a Reddit comment. A different user describes this mode as the devs "dropping the ball so hard, I had great enjoyment in the initial release, what prompted them to change it?"
Looking Ahead: Adjustments Be Made?
If the development team has demonstrated something to date with the latest installment, it's that they're paying attention and responding to feedback. Tasks that were overly hard were adjusted rapidly, just like the specific battle pass objectives. Chances are that, should analytics shows this new playlist isn't performing to their standards, they will not hesitate to make further modifications.
