The co-creator of Call of Duty, who helped create the globally famous first-person shooter Call of Duty, has died in a traffic collision in Los Angeles, California aged 55.

His passing was announced by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, the development studio which he helped establish.

The influential video game developer lost his life when his vehicle was involved in a crash and burst into flames on a freeway in Los Angeles on Sunday morning, US media outlets report.

"This represents a devastating loss, and we stand with Vince's loved ones, his family, and all those touched by his creative vision," a spokesperson for Electronic Arts commented.
