President Trump Calls Families of Shot Guard Soldiers to White House

President Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the executive mansion.

He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Tragic Incident

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their memory.

Presidential Call

The president stated he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both individuals of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump told the press. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Response

Mourners assembled over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to assist policing efforts in the capital.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that instructors hoped for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a positive energy that encouraged people around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was kind, caring and always eager to help others.”

Service plans for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Judicial Measures and Policy Changes

Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The incident led the government to suspend asylum applications and halt granting visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s leader the governor said on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she aimed to meet with the family.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had courage,” he told the audience at the memorial. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
