Around twenty-five thousand homes in southeastern Queensland found themselves experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems impacted the region, generating wind gusts reaching 109km/h.
Large Ice Stones and Broad Impact
Residents reported large ice chunks as large as 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

Utility workers were working to restore energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews activated to handle the widespread outages.
Victorian Climate Difficulties
Simultaneously, approximately 1,000 households in Victoria also faced energy failures after the capital city experienced its wettest day in 18 months.
State Emergency Services responded to over five hundred requests for assistance across the region, primarily for building damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

At the height on the previous day, in excess of 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along large portions of the state's eastern regions this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
The following day was expected to become the most rainy day, with persistent storm activity predicted across various areas of both states.
Medical Alert
Health officials warned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This warning comes after past events where comparable situations led to significant health impacts in the area.
