Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at all of the past five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from his teammate by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a alternative strategy.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to crash, if briefly, when he rotated at the fourth corner soon after starting.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before rotating through the run-off area, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner before the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in 19th place, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, over half a second slower than Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
