From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in power within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The third episode finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the developments of the third episode show why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his own means, invading the secret base, attacking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.
Casimir then settled his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could help the group reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
Based on the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Questers and Schemers parties.
Fans can anticipate learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
